About Me...
My name is Tara Good, and I'm a confirmed barn rat. I've got stories about electric fences, loose horses and apple trees, riding bareback double over jumps, falling through haystacks and galloping down fairways. I've also got stories about high points, scaling granite in the mountains, cantering squares, World Championships and midnight foalings.
I've done just about anything you can do with a horse and have been doing this for more than 40 years...so yeah, barn rat.
This is "Stilts"
Stilts’ dam was my introduction into equine nutrition more than 20 years ago. Carly had been diagnosed with PPID and been given a pretty grim prognosis, and I’d been given very little information by the vet other than abscesses, laminitis and rapidly declining health was in her future. It was in my search for a way to make her more comfortable that I found what a huge impact a solid nutrition program can make in a horse’s life – and it’s a whole lot more than some hay and enough grain to keep them at a good weight.

This is "Carly"
I certainly couldn’t make the Cushings go away, but I most certainly could support her and make her life better. After months of research and speaking to vets from the U of MN, New Bolton and Guelph, I found I was able to help her a whole lot. In fact, what I found completely changed the way I managed and fed every horse I owned…and the unexpected upside was that I spent a lot less money doing it.
When I lost Carly 5 years after her diagnosis to an injury, she had given me three more foals via embryo transfer, never had a bout of laminitis, no abscesses, and no shaggy coat. What I’d learned, without a doubt, gave her a longer and better life.
Since that time, I’ve received numerous certificates and diplomas from the U of MN and the U of Guelph in Equine Nutrition; Pasture and Grass Management; Equine Management; Equine Genetics and Breeding Management and Functional Anatomy. Most recently I’ve become a Certified as an Equine Nutrition Specialist.

I work with horses suffering from:
PPID/Cushings
Equine Metabolic Syndrome/EMS
Insulin Resistance/Dysregulation
RER
PSSM I & II
HYYP
Horses prone to Colic and Ulcers
Fecal Water Syndrome
I also work with Equine Athletes of all stripes – Barrel Horses, Saddleseat, 3-Day Eventers and Western Pleasure as well as Breeding and Training Facilities.

If you've got a Carly that needs a little extra love, I'm here to help.
